RIP Spine

Less than a month ago my other half Chris closed Spine skate shop in Worcester which he’d run for the last 11 years. For the last 5 years Chris and I used the wall space in Spine to run a little gallery and enjoyed putting on shows for friends and artists we admired. It gave Worcester a much needed, independent outlet/venue for local artists and gave us the opportunity to put on shows by artists from outside of the city.

Here’s a sample of just some of the shows we had over the years. RIP Spine.

• Curious Creatures, a group show and zine featuring illustrations based on the titl

  e. Artists included Jeremyville, French, Dave the Chimp, Jon Burgerman to name a few.

• Chris Johnson, skate photographer from Worcester who went on to become Staff Photographer for the UK’s Sidewalk skate mag.
• Robert Darch, photographer and now filmmaker.
• Kev Grey, from Liverpool, black and white tattoo and comic book style illustrations
• Log Roper, from Birmingham, paintings and prints based on family and personal nostalgia
• Simon Peplow, formerly based in Birmingham, paintings, prints and illustrations
• Phlegm Comics, prints, comics and comic illustrations by Sheffield based artist.
