An Artfair in Munich, Stroke it is called. The fourth edition is coming up while exactly one year ago they have been already very successful in the Bavarian town. Stroke happened also in Berlin and in 2010 more than 25.000 visitors got along to see the work of 600 artists from around the globe. We talk about an event of those brothers Marco and Raiko Schwalbe who founded Stroke artfair to bring in a platform for galleries, artists and creative to present themselves in a more serious way than having an appearance part xyz on the street. It has a focus, it gives a reason to meet and yet it is all about street art, urban art and their facettes. New and fresh Stroke gathers a big load of creativity being an artfair with authentic and contemporary direction. The visitors are getting a very good overview of what is going on in this new movement bogarting more and more space in every town – on walls, shirts, billboards, commercials, retailers, galleries, legal or illegal became secondary. Nobody can ignore the power of creation within the modern life. It is not surprising that the lack of information who does what and where, how and why needed a platform. The aim is to present the work of talented people to a wider audience. As many people as possible should see creative work whether they are young guns or established superstars. The approach is to lift up the scene, new or old-school, established or mummend, professional or engaged, all have that streety appeal. Stroke is the spreadhead as an urban artfair and many people are willing to show their quirk work and direct in this show, that’s why four event days are on schedule giving the chance to discover the most. In May in Munich, end of September again in Berlin. We keep you informed. Stroke Artfair – Munich 26. -29. May 2011 Zenith – Kulturhalle Munich, Lilienthalallee 29, 80939 Munich , Germany

Patrick Hartl was born in 1976, he lives and works in Munich as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator. He has been occupying himself with arts and design for over 15 years and his works have been displayed in various cities, such as San Francisco, Fresno, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Offenbach, Munich and Augsburg. Starting with graffiti, his path has led him across a multitude of experiments, including mainly illustration, calligraphy and digital compositing. – “From the marker, to the brush, to the calligraphy-pen and the graph tablet.” Hartl prefers handcraft design and, with regard to their honesty, non-computerised, analog works. Yet, the possibilities offered by digital design are undoubtledly very tempting and therefore can’t be turned down completely. At the present time the biggest attraction for Hartl lies in the combination of both techniques, allowing him to use each techniques advantages and interlinking the old with the new. Besides his activitiy as an artist Hartl is also the editor of the e-zine »CASTLE« (www.castlemagazine.de), which has been published quartely since November 2005 in the PDF-format, covering as main topics illustration, art and design. We would like to show you the last issue – Nr.17 which is outstanding again. You can directly check Castelmagazine’s Issu.com site.
