Street Knowledge in Yorkshire
Not too long ago I wrote about King Adz‘ new book Street Knowledge; an intense book about street culture and the many aspects of modern life it penetrates. It features his personal insight on everything from graffiti, street art, artists, to designers, queer culture, writers, DJ’s, fashion and poets, who influenced urban culture and brought it to the masses.
Since the big launch in London Adz launched his book in Amsterdam, New York, and LA. All good fun and big parties for his crowd. Now Adz returned to the UK to launch Street Knowledge at Gallery North in Batley, Yorkshire. This time with a special exhibition.
“The idea behind the show is that I wanted to create something live you could walk round whilst looking at the [Street Knowledge] book,” says King Adz. “There are copies of the book at the entrance and I’m asking people to have a browse and read about the who / what / when / where / why as they check out the art on the walls. I love the work of Asbestos, James Dodd, Hush, Laser 3.14 and Hugo Kaagman and I have collected their work in the past and thought it would be good to get some of this work out in public, mixed with some of the pieces I’ve been creating myself over the last 20 years.”
The exhibition will be running for another month. But if you can’t make it, check the pictures of Adz’ work in the gallery, which Adz just sent me.
