The Urban Art Guide

The internet gave art on the street a platform that spiraled the movement into an international hype. In March 2009 this development took its next step with the smartphone application The Urban Art Guide by adidas.

“It all started with a love of art, curiosity and plenty of know-how: in March 2009, the adidas Urban Art Guide – the world’s first ever mobile street art guide – saw the light of day and took to the streets. Accompanied by a website with more in-depth info and plenty of updates, the smartphone app introduced lovers of urban art to some of the best – and hidden – examples with a loving and detailed exploration of Berlin street art.”

Currently only limited to street art in Berlin and Hamburg, Germany, the guide provides an article for each artwork that you are standing in front of directly to your iPhone. The article gives information on the artist, the artwork and references. In close cooperation with Urban Artists, but also with classical art historians not only a catalog is created but also an extensive and permanently updated Urban Art archive.
